Ensign John Gregg served with 2nd Pennsylvania Regiment, Continental Army during the American Revolution.

John Gregg was born 15 Oct 1747, in Loudoun County, Virginia. His parents were Samuel Gregg and Elizabeth Alford.

He married Sarah Susan Gregg 25 Sep 1773, in Moscow, Clermont County, Ohio. John Gregg passed away 7 Oct 1799, in Moscow, Clermont County, Ohio.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

Samuel Gregg married Elizabeth Alford in 1740 in Virginia. The couple had one child: John Gregg.[10][8]

"The Compendium of American Genealogy". pg. 34, Vol. 7. 1942 states that John Gregg married Sarah Gregg the daughter of George Gregg and Elizabeth Hanby.
    John and Sarah lived in Green County, Pennsylvania after their marriage. In 1792 they moved down the Ohio River to "Buchanan's Station" now Germantown, Kentucky. In Loudan County, Virginia on March 25, 1775 John Gregg was admitted a member to the Society of Friends. On November 25, 1775 John joined the Military and was disowned. John served in the Revolutionary War and was disowned (letter of GGGranddaughter Mary Gregg McCollum. Penn Arch. 5. Vol. 4). In the spring of 1793 he with William Buchanan and his wife Jane went across the Ohio River into Clermont County, Ohio to build a log cabin on the site of Neville. A wring survey caused them to give up 1000 acres to avoid trouble and went back to Kentucky. John Gregg had not taken his family because the children were too small. Sarah Gregg was a beautiful woman of light frame weighing ninety pounds. Long after her husband's death she rode horseback alone from Kentucky through the blazed woods to Lebanon, Ohio in Warren County to visit her children and would return unaccompanied to Kentucky. John built in Warren County. died of fever. Children buried Pa and returned to Kentucky with widowed mother as requested by dying father.'.
