Biography

Ireland Native
Mary (Gregg) Howard was born in Ireland.

Mary Gregg's birth to David Gregg and Min McFarlane took place in Ireland in the part that is now called Northern Ireland. Records date her birth in April 1824 [1] [2] and 2 April 1826. [3] (The exact place is said to Heppy. I have not found any reference to Heppy outside of family sources. Has someone misread old handwriting?) Mary married James Howard and in 1861, they lived in a 1 1/4 storey log house. They are recorded in Mono, Dufferin, Ontario from 1861 to 1901 on Lot 15 Con 1 (W. Mono). [4] [5]

By 1891, Mary was recorded in the census as deaf and dumb. Mary died 23 June 1901 in Mono, Dufferin, Ontario of Bright's disease. [6] She was buried in Burns Cemetery in Mono Centre, Ontario.
