TO ALL PEOPLE to whome these presents shall come Know ye that I SARAH GRIFFIN Widdow Relict of THOMAS GRIFFIN late of Rappahanock County in the Colony of Virginia gent deced as well in consideration of natural love & affection I bear towards my three children LEROY, THOMAS & WINIFRED GRIFFIN & for & towards their maintenance & bringing up & for & in consideration of their full inial portion due them by Law out of their said deceased Fathers Estates as also for other good causes & valluable consideracons me thereunto specially moving have given & confirmed unto the said three Children the sum of Six hundred pounds Sterl money of England in manner & forme following that is to say unto my said Son LEROY GRIFFIN Two hundred pounds part thereof when he attains the age of one & twenty years unto my other son THOMAS GRIFFIN two hundred pounds more thereof when he attains to the age of one & twenty years & unto my Daughter WYNIFRED GRIFFIN Two hundred pounds Residue thereof when she shall attain to the age of one & twenty years or be married together (missing) mares & catle hereafter menconed in manner & forme following that is to say to my said Son LEROY GRIFFIN Two mares which I formerly bought of Mr, GEORGE COHLOUGH & five (missing)ed & marked as by a note annexed hereunto appears to my said Son THOMAS GRIFFIN three cows named & markt as by the said noat annexted & to my sd Daughter WYNIFRED GRIFFIN one mare filly lately bought of the said COHLOUGH to have and to hold unto my said Three Children LEROY, THOMAS & WINIFRED GRIFFIN their & every of their Exrs. & assignes & to the survivr. of them agt all persons for Ever by these presents Provided Always it shall be lawful! for me the said SARAH GRIFFIN quietly to possess & enjoy the male increase & proffits of the said Mares & Catle until my said Son LEROY &THOS. Thomas paid taxes in Lancaster County, Virginia Colony, based on his labor force. The county assessed him for two tithables, 24 Oct 1653,[4] for five tithables, 6 Feb 1655,[5] for seven tithables (his labor force being at this assessment tied for the county's tenth largest), 7 Dec 1655,[6] and for seventh tithables, 5 Nov 1656.[7]

JOHNSON his bounds are from Mr. GILLSONs downward to their fences; CUTHBERT POTTER from his ( ); RICH: JONES his bounds extent to the mouth of the River. It is likewise ordered that any Constable wthin his respective lymitts shalbe Way Warden and hath hereby power to summon the inhabitants wthin his lymitts soe often as he shall think fitt & to such places as he shall appoint for the mendinge makinge & repaireing of all wayes & bridges, The severall Constables are ordered to repaire to the next Commissioner to take his Oath, otherwise to appeare at the next Cort. to that purpose, the Sheriffe to give notice

County upon the (missing)erly side of FARNHAM CREEK adjoyning to a parcell of land formerly taken up by Coll. FANTLEROY with all rights & priviledges in or by any Pattent granted for the just Sum & Quantity of Four thousand pds. of Tobacco & Cask notwithstanding we the said ALLEN & ABRAHAM for divers good causes and consideracons us thereunto especially moveing have given & by these presents do give grant & assigne over all our right interest & that we have or ever have had by Virtue of the said conveyance from us our heirs or assignes unto the said THOMAS GRIFFIN his heirs or assignes in as full & ample manner as if we never had relacon thereunto & in referren ce thereunto do Impower our trusty & well beloved Friend Mr. WILL. Admrs for ever in Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seal the 20th (missing) 1658 in presence of THOMAS PRITTYMAN, RICHARD BENNETT RI: BENNETT JUNR Mr. RICHARD LOES - I doe hereby desire & authorize you to appear for me in ye Court. held for the County of Rappahanock or in any Court of Record wtsoever and there to make an acknowledgement in my behalf & in my name for a parcell of land 150 acres which I have sold & reced satisfaction for of THOMAS GRIFFITH being the land formerly promist to EVE MARSH Widdow which said Land I do hereby acknowledge to have sold unto the said GRIFFITH as by Deed under my hand & seal dated the 20th February 1658 in presence of THOMAS PRITTYMAN, Servrs: RI: BENNETT RI: BENNETT JUNR .

[1] BE IT KNOWN that I THOMAS MADDYSON of FARNHAM CREEK in RAPPAHANOCK RIVER Carpenter for full & real Satisfacion to me paid have sould to RICHARD POWELL of the same River Planter & to his heirs & assignes heretably and iredeemably forever a tract of land containing two hundred & fifty acres lying on the said Creek towards the head thereof on the North West side of the same begining at a Swamp that parteth the said land from land of Mr. THOMAS GRIFFETH deced and so runing to the land of the said MADYSON in bredth and in length along the markt trees of JOHN SCOTT into the woods with all right & profits that belong to the said Two hundred & fifty acres by virtue of the Pattent & sale made by Capt. DAVID MANSELL or by any other claime of right whatsoever to have and to hld the said land of his Maty according to the tenor of the said Pattent the said RICHARD paying the proper proportionable rent therein men coned & I do bind me my heirs the said land unto the said RICHARD POWELL agt the trouble of any persons whatsoever that shall trouble him in the peaceable enjoying the said Land (missing) MADYSON Wife of the said THOMAS MADYSON do give my free and voluntary consent unto this sale & do renoucne & disclaime all manner of right yt. I have thereunto & we do bind & confirm this our sale of the said land in open Court upon demand.
