1775 Birth: Ann was born about 1775. She died aged 90 in 1865 her parents were Donald Gunn, a farmer and fisherman and Ann Miller.

1797 Marriage: Ann married Robert McDonald on the 9 Feb 1797 at Latheron. They were both from Forse, near Latheron. This is detailed in the Church registers Old Parish Registers for Latheron on Scotlands People.

They are living in Achastle, near Latheron, Caithness. Also living in the household are Isabella McDonald their daughter who is 28, a seamstress born in Latheron and Gordon Nicol (1839-1886) who is 12 and at school, the son of Ann McDonald (abt.1812-) their eldest daughter. In the 1851 census Ann (age 74) was the wife of Robert Macdonald in Achastle, Latheron, Caithness.[2]

1858 Marriage of Son: Their son John McDonald (widower) 59 was married to Margaret Munro (widow) 50 on the 17 December 1858.

1860 Death of Husband: Her husband Robert died on the 12 July 1860,p at the age of 87 which would mean they were married for 63 years. The death was registered by his son John McDonald.

1861 Census: In 1861, Ann is 87 years old, living with her daughter Ann McDonald 46 at Achastle, Swiney, Latheron, Caithness. Also living with them are Ann 2 children Gordon Nicol 21 and Isabella McKay 10. In the 1861 census Ann (age 87) was the mother of Ann McDonald in Achastle, Latheron, Caithness.[3]
