Another family tree from Jessica Davis provides his date of birth and date of death, but is unsourced. Approximately 55 other family trees appear for the Joel Gurley who migrated to Alabama from Wayne County, North Carolina, but only one tree can be found to document the Joel who stayed put and fathered Edith Gurley. I have found few other records available on ancestry.com for Joel Gurley in Wayne County, North Carolina, at that same time. As such, I have estimated the birth and death dates for this Joel Gurley as indicated above. The birth date is estimated on the earliest known child's birth less 15 years for minimal fatherhood and his death date is estimated based on his last recorded US Census record in Wayne County, NC.
