Thomas Hamilton served with 5th Virginia Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Thomas was born in 1757. He is the son of Thomas Hamilton. He passed away in 1847.

Thomas was a Revolutionary War soldier. He made oath November 19, 1832 as a resident of Morgan Co., KY that he was 74 years old: entered service as a private for a term of two years in the 5th Regiment of Virginia at Williamsburg, VA on February 1, 1776. He served under Colonel Scott, Colonel Crawford, Captain Terrell and General Muhlenburg. Was at the Battle of Brandywine & Germantown but was not engaged since he was with the baggage wagons. After he joined the regiment at Williamsburg, they marched to Norfolk, then to Philadelphia, White Plains, Middle Brook, and Valley Forge, PA, where he received his discharge from Colonel William Davis at HQ, on February 1778. Pensioned at $80 per year. [1]

Notes: Thomas served in Revolutionary War about 1776-1778 in Virginia. Thomas qualified for a pension for his Revolutionary War service as a private in the Virginia State Line. He was awarded annual payments of $80, with a total of $240 received 12 Apr 1833. The pension payments began when he was aged 76. Thomas was a certified witness to his brother Benjamin Hamilton's service in Revolutionary War when he applied for his pension.
