Biography

Earl Hand, born in 1897, was a World War I flying ace. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, he was the second son of Thomas Hand and Hannah Jane McNabb.[1][2]

On April 7, 1916, he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force. At the beginning of the war, he served as a sergeant in the Canadian Infantry. He then served as a captain in the Royal Flying Corps, 45th Squadron,[3] and was credited with five confirmed aerial victories and two unconfirmed ones.
