Charlotte Petrie Harkness was born in 1899, in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland, the third child, third daughter of William Harkness and his wife Charlotte Petrie McIntyre.^[1]

On the 31st March 1901, the 1-year-old Charlotte Petrie was living at 9 Hope Street, Greenock, with her family. Home at the time were her father: William (34), a Railway Brakesman; her mother: Charlotte (32); and her siblings; 6-year-old Grace Wilson; and 5-year-old Martha Wylie.^[2]

Charlotte Petrie Harkness died young.
