Biography

Abraham was born in 1802. He was the son of Michael Harmon and Catherine Seigal.

He married Ann Pillars on 18 Dec 1827 in Randolph County, Illinois.[1]

The 1850 Census[2] shows him at age 48 with his wife and eleven children in Randolph County, Illinois.

The 1870 Census[3] shows him at age 65 with his wife and with three children still at home in Randolph County, Illinois.

Research Notes

There is a discrepancy between the death date on FindAGrave of 30 Sep 1869, and the fact that he was apparently alive for the 1870 Census! It has been suggested that the actual death date is 30 Sep 1870, and that is what will be used on this profile.

It comes down to which source is more reliable: The census, or the grave marker?
It is hard to imagine how the census worker would record a dead person as currently living in the household. On the other hand, the grave marker is brand new, meaning it was created long after the event in question. So, the census carries more weight here.

Harmon-6381 and Harmon-2954 appear to represent the same person because: The duplicated children are the key to knowing these are the same person. They also have the same spouse, of course, because the whole family was duplicated here. We should start by merging the parents, Abraham and Anna, before merging all of the duplicated children.
