DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Isaac-2 Hearnden (Benjamin-1) of Norwich, Connecticut & Children
— son of Benjamin-1 and Elizabeth (White) Hearnden.
— husband of Sarah.
— also also known as Harrington, Herrington, etc.
Ruth Story Devereux Eddy (of Providence, Rhode Island), The Ancestry and Descendants of John Hearndon of Scituate, R.I. [Rhode Island] together with a Supplement including some of the descendants of his brothers Benjamin, Joseph, William and Thomas (typescript, 1944); online at:
Unfortunately, Eddy introduced multiple significant errors in her account, with respect to the will of “Isaac Herington” and identifying his children. Refer instead to an image of Isaac’s will, with itemized bequests for the following heirs, evidently grouped by gender and generation, in the following order:
Sons: Isaac, Silvanus, James.
Daughters: Jemima Bennet, Mary Bennet, Prudance Herington
Granddaughter: Unis Bennet, dau of “my Daughter Sarah dec’d [deceased]”
I examined John Herenden's will of 1744 and found that John Herenden had a brother named Stephen Herenden in his will. Also, he named his children, Amey, Nathaniel, John, Obadiah, Katherine, and Jemima.
John and Stephen Herenden were the sons of John Harrington and Lydia (Cranston) Harrington because Isaac Harrington (abt.1668-1728) did not have a son named Stephen Herenden.
Harrington-1808 and Harrington-1372 appear to represent the same person because: it seems John (Harrington) Herenden (1700 - 1744) (Harrington-1372) and John Harrington (1694 - 1735) (Harrington-1808) are same person. However, their parentage is different. Are they married to same woman Mary Martha (Jencks) Harrington (1692 - 1756) (Jencks-37) and Mary (Jenkes) Harrington (Jenkes-19)? Are they same woman? Should they be merged also?

Eddy provides an account of Isaac-2, beginning at page 45:

No evidence has been found to support claims that Isaac had sons named John or Solomon.
John and Stephen Herenden were the sons of John Harrington and Lydia (Cranston) Harrington because Isaac Harrington (abt.1668-1728) did not have a son named Stephen Herenden.
It is clear that Nathaniel Harrington, Obediah Harrington, John Harrington, Amey Harrington, Catherine Harrington, James Harrington and Jemima Harrington are the children of John (Harrington) Herenden (1700-1744) and Mary (Jenkes) Harrington.
Can you detach all the children and attach them to John (Harrington) Herenden (1700-1744) and Mary (Jenkes) Harrington?
