John Hawthorne the son of Bryce and Mary Hawthorne was born in Ireland in November 1828.
He emigrated to Australia as a Bounty Immigrant on The Royal Consort from Ireland with his mother and her new husband Thomas Delaney in July 1840. He is listed in the Immigration records as John Delaney, however Thomas lists him as his stepson not his son.
The Royal Consort arrived at Sydney Harbour in early November 1840. Unfortunately John died before the landing and was officially listed as dead on the 15th of November, one day after his 12th birthday. He was one of 9 children who died on this voyage.
