Born to Henry and Jane Hayes (Hays) in 1823-27 Wilkes County, North Carolina
Sallie never married, her mother died in 1856 Missouri, and Sallie lived with her father until his death 1879. She is not found on census records after the 1870 one.
Her actual resting place is unknown at this time
She lived with her father on all of the census records under the name of Sallie or Sarah Hayes.
And then even adopted her sister Nancy AMANDA DeArmon's children. They lived in Montserrat in 1880, last time she is found.
The family lived in Johnson County since at least 1840 maybe even 5 years earlier.
Her brother Johnson was named for the place as they had just moved there.
Most of her family is buried here in Adams cemetery.
Adams was also her mother Jane's maiden name.
She has to be here. IF she married it was for just a short period. Some say she married a Richard Massey...???????

SO THIS would be Henry and his new wife Jane both age 26 and a son
(in the same neighborhood is a James Hayes)
2nd child, Sallie born 1823, after the 1820 census
1827 Sallie was born they moved to Indiana where in 1832 their next known daughter was born, Amanda.
United States Census, 1830 4th census Wilkes, North Carolina
These may or not be children maybe his siblings were living with them?
After this census they moved to Indiana.
HOWEVER, in Wilkes County there is still a HENRY HAYES age 40-50 and listed along with Henry are a female 30-40 and 10 kids from under5 to male 20-30 the oldest.??????????????
GUESS they could have moved after the North Carolina census and before the Indiana census to be counted again???????????
There are 2 Henry Hayes in Indiana that match the ages of Henry-Jane-Sallie and Amanda.
