Biography

Sarah Eliza Headley was born 30 Apr 1851 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Enos Headley and Sarah E. Woodruff.[1][2] Sarah and her family emigrated from Greene County, Pennsylvania to Licking County, Ohio between 1861 and 1870.[3] On 31 Dec 1871, Sarah Eliza married Samuel Beard Pickering, the son of John Jackson Pickering and Margaret Carey Beard. Samuel and Sarah emigrated from the Fairfield County/Licking County, Ohio area to Shelby County between 1872 and 1878. Sarah and Samuel had three children: John Jackson, Rosa Alice, and James Elsworth.[4] Sarah died three months and 12 days after James' birth, on 28 Sep 1878. She is buried in Houston Cemetery, Houston, Shelby County, Ohio.[5]
