Biography

Filinda was born in 1868, to Michel Heroux and his wife, Marguerite Ledoux, in Belle Prairie, Minnesota. On May 10, Filinda married Amedie Doucette at the Holy Family Church in Belle Prairie. Together they farmed and raised their large family.

Filinda passed away on 2 Feb, 1957 at St. Otto's Home, Little Falls, Morrison County, Minnesota.

There are many versions of Filinda's French first name. Among them are Falinda, Felinda, Falanda, Felonise, Falandise. Sometimes, as in the Minnesota State Census of 1895, the 'F' is replaced with 'Ph'. On Page 982 of the History of Montana, she is identified as "...Philander, who married Ameda Doucette, of Topeka, Minnesota..." in the list of the children of Michel Heroux and Marguerite Ledoux. The article is a biography of Filinda's younger brother, Ezra, whose last name, Heroux, became Ereaux in Montana.
