Thomas was born in 1803. He married Jane Styan (abt.1807-) in 1825 and worked as a rent collector.
In 1841 the couple were living in Topcliffe, North Yorkshire, with their daughter Ann Heslington (1831-), a nephew and 2 others. Meanwhile, their other 3 children were at boarding school.
In 1871 Thomas was living with Ann's 16 year old daughter Emily Ann Arculus (bef.1855-1931) and working as a brewer. In 1879 he was widowed and in 1881 he was living with Ann's family. 10 years later he and Ann had moved down to Norwich to live with her daughter's family. He died in Colchester in 1894 at the age of 91.
