According to the Durham family genealogy, Daniel Durham's first wife was Sarah Hightower, born about 1751, in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, in Virginia's "North Neck". Sarah Hightower married Daniel Durham in 1766 when she was just 16 years old in North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co., English colony of Virginia. The couple moved to Lunenburg County, Virginia, and had a son there:[1]
During or immediately after the American War of Independence (1776-1783), the family left Virginia and moved to South Carolina. It's not known if they had other children. The dates and names are very mixed-up on available genealogies for this family and this period.
Sarah (Hightower) Durham died in Pendleton District, South Carolina, USA, around 1798. Her husband survived her passing and died there in 1803.
