Birth and Parents: Perry Tyson Hildreth was born on 17 October 1897 in Brooklyn, Conecuh County, Alabama. His tombstone is engraved with the year 1897; his World War I Draft Registration records his birth year as 1896. The 1900 United States Census recorded that he was two years old at the time it was taken.[1] He was the son of John Daniel Hildreth (1858-1930) and Mary Jane (Pate) Hildreth (1870-1953). He was enumerated in their household on both the 1900 and 1910 United States Censuses.

Marriage: He was married to Gladys Myrtle Golden on 28 November 1931 in Camp Hill, Tallapoosa County, Alabama.[6][7] They were the parents of at least four children. Their first child, James Edward Hildreth, died on the day he was born in 1933.[8] Two other children are also deceased. The fourth child is possibly still living, so will not be discussed in any detail in this biography.

Occupation and Other Activities: In 1920 and 1930, Perry T. Hildreth's occupation was recorded as farmer on the United States Censuses for those years.[4][5] in 1924 it was announced in The Evergreen Courant that he was moving to Florala, Covington County, Alabama, to accept a position with a motor car company.[10] In 1934 he ran for tax collector of Conecuh County, Alabama. He did not win the Primary Election which was held in May 1934. At that time he was working for Evergreen Motor Car Company.[11][12] In 1940, Perry T. Hildreth was working as a salesman for the Opelika Motor Company.[9]
His father, John Daniel Hildreth, died in 1930. In his obituary, Perry Tyson was mentioned as "P. T. Hildreth" of Paul, Conecuh County, Alabama.[13]
In 1953 his mother, Mary Hildreth, died. His mother's obituary mentioned "Perry Hildreth" of Opelika as her surviving son.[14]
Death and Burial: Perry Tyson Hildreth passed away on 15 August 1979 in Opelika, Lee County, Alabama.[15] He was buried in Rosemere Cemetery, Opelika, Lee County, Alabama.[16]
