Biography

David Edgar Himes was born 20 Aug 1893 son of Daniel Himes and Eady Myers [1] [2]

David grew up in Sharp County Arkansas the youngest child of Daniel and Edith Himes. At the age of 16 he was already working full time on a farm [3]

On April 2, 1916 he married Maude B. Taylor (daughter of Henry and Ettie Taylor) [4] In Sharps County. [5]

David registered for the draft in 1917. He works for LM Norris and Marketing, in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas. He is described as medium build, brown hair with light blue eyes. [6]

In 1920 he and Maude were living in Strawberry, Sharp County, Arkansas. They had 1 Child, Lee Roy bon about 1899. Edgar's father was living with them along with his nephew John Himes [7]

The 1930 census tells us They were living in Big Rock, Sharp Arkansas, they now have a daughter Etta Jean born about 1927. David's occupation is listed as farming. They own their own home that has a value of $1,000. [8]

in 1940 the are now living in Strawberry, Sharp Arkansas, It does not appear that they have had any more children. Daniel's occupation is still listed as farmer [9]

David registered for the WWII draft April 27, 1942. This gives his physical description as white, with a light complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. He stands 5'8" and weighs 145 lbs. [10]

David died of a cerebral hemorrhage at Gary's Hospital in Batesville, Arkansas on August 24, 1966. [11]
