Biography

Edith "Eddy" Coy Myers was born January 20, 1850 to John Clark and Sarah (Romine) Myers in Walker County, Alabama [1][2]

In 1860 She is 10 years old living with her parents, Sister Mary, and brothers James and Freeman. Her father owns the farm they live on. It is valued at $1,600 and his personal wealth is listed as $844.00 [3]

She married Daniel David Himes (son of Daniel K Himes and Rachel Elizabeth (Baulch) Himes on 24 May 1868 in Lewis County, Tennessee [4]

This couple had the following 7 children: James Marion Himes b. 1869, John Dan Himes b. 1869, Sarah Rachel Himes b. 1873, Flora Bell Himes b. 1878[5] Elizabeth Himes b. 1885, Charley Harrison Himes b. 1889 and David Edgar Himes b. 1893[6]

By August 1870, Eddy and her family have moved to Lewis County, Tennessee. David is listed with no owned property, but his personal value is listed at $275.00 The family is living next door to her in-laws.[7]

1880 finds this family now living in Scott, Sharp County, Arkansas Her husband Daniel has been unemployed for 5 months. [5]

The 1900 Census tells us that Edie gave birth to 8 children , but only has 7 living children. They are renting a home in Big Rock, Sharp, Arkansas. Daniel is still listed as a farmer. [6]

In 1910 they are now living in Strawberry, Sharp Arkansas and have their grandson John Himes living with them. Dainel is self employed as a Farmer, and they own their own farm.[8]

Eddy Died 5 Feb 1914 in Sharp County, Arkansas [9]
