Violet Elizabeth Hinds, daughter of Joseph R. Hind and Mary Bradley,[1] was born 10 February 1874 near Amber, in Jones County, Iowa.[2]

  • 1880 US Census: Violet was also enumerated in Amber, Jones County, Iowa in the household of her sister, Lucinda Jane "Jennie" Hollenbeck, which included: J. P. Hollenback 23, L. J. Hollenback 20, T. J. 9 months, and Violet Hind 6.[4]

  • 29 March 1943 - Affidavit of Violet Hinds Miell, age 69, resident of Central City, Iowa, attested that Caroline Maria Hinds was born 26 April 1876 in Amber, Iowa, was the fifth child of Joseph Hinds, farmer, 53, born Nottinghamshire, England and Mary Bradley, 38, born Lincolnshire, England[13]
  • September 1951 - Central City, Linn, Iowa: Mrs. Violet Miell resided in Central City per the obituary of her brother, Charles R Hinds.
  • October 1961 - Violet Miell resided in Central City, Iowa per the obituary of her son, Dean Miell. Also on 4 July 1961, she attended a family reunion held at Wapsipinicon State Park in Anamosa, Iowa (see attached photo).

Marriages and Children

Violet married first to John B. Johnson[2] on 13 August 1893 in Springville, Linn County, Iowa.[1] They had one child:

John died in 1895.
Violet married second to Richard H. Miell[2] on 16 February 1899 in Amber, Iowa.[14] Richard and Violet had the following children:[2]

  2. Earl
  3. R. Dean
  4. Keith
  5. Barney
  6. Kenneth
Richard H. Miell died in 1920 and Violet was appointed administrator of his estate on 5 October 1920 in Linn County, Iowa.[15]

Death and Burial

Violet Miell, a resident of Central City, Linn County, Iowa, died on 4 March 1962 in a Cedar Rapids hospital.[2] Violet is buried at Boulder Cemetery in Waubeek, Linn County, Iowa.[16]
