Biography

Jessica Emma Hodder was born on 1 March 1882 in Featherston, Wellington, New Zealand, daughter of Walter George Hodder (1856–1933) and Ann Donald (1856–1927).[1][2]

Her siblings were:

  1. Herbert Walter Hodder (3 December 1879 – 31 March 1952)
  2. Ethel Hodder (23 November 1880 – 1953)
  3. Beatrice Elizabeth Hodder (11 November 1886 – 25 February 1955)
  4. Lilian Grace Hodder (28 September 1892 – 1959)

Jessica (22) married John Rooks (26) (born in 1878 in Featherston, Wairarapa) on 19 July 1905 in Featherston, Wellington.[3] Their children were:

  1. Walter William Rooks (23 November 1905 – 15 May 1964)
  2. Gwendoline Annie Rooks (4 February 1907 – 20 July 1971)
  3. Joyce Rooks Rooks (25 November 1909 – 22 September 1987)
  4. Marcus John Rooks (21 July 1921 – 30 November 1972)

Jessica died on 12 May 1960 in New Zealand, aged 78.[4] She was buried in Featherston Cemetery, Featherston, South Wairarapa District, Wellington.[1]
