Biography

Lawrence was born in 1947. He was the son of Lawrence Hoisington and Mary Luckinbill. He passed away in 2006.

Obituary

Loving husband, father, son, brother, papa and friend, Duane passed at home at the age of 59, with his wife by his side, on the evening of Aug. 19, 2006 from Multiple Systems Atrophy, a form of advanced Parkinson's disease. Born on Aug. 9, 1947 in Sweet Home, OR, he graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. E-5 both in the active duty and reserves. Self-employed his entire life, he was both a logger and a home builder. A highly skilled carpenter, he never met a project he couldn't complete! He was passionate about street rods and at the age of 17 he restored the first one of many, a 1923 T-Roadster pickup. Also at the age of 17 he fell his first tree and for the next 30 years he logged consistently without using a business card or advertising. Over the years, he built hundreds of homes in Clark County, and took great pride and joy in his last home, the one he and Dolly built together in Meadow Glade. They enjoyed working side-by-side in their yard and spending time with their grandchildren. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Dolly Kraus of Battle Ground, WA; son, Scott of Fresno, CA; mother, Mary Palmer and sister, Linda Selfridge both of Ridgefield, WA; step-daughter, Angel Sederburg and two granddaughters, Savannah and Tabitha Sederburg, all of Battle Ground, WA. Duane was proceeded in death by his father, Lawrence James Hoisington and niece, Gwen Griffith. Once you met him, he became your friend. We welcome all those to celebrate his life with us at 11:00am on Fri., Aug. 25, 2006 at Mountain View Christian Center, 2810 NE 279th St., Ridgefield. Viewing is scheduled for Wed., Aug. 23, 2006, 5-9 pm and Thurs., Aug. 24, 2006, noon - 9pm at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, 1101 NE 112 Ave., Vancouver.
