Mary was born in Cavill, Yorkshire, England, and was baptised nearby in Eastrington in 1836. She was the daughter of George Holliday and Martha Gregory[1] and lived with her parents in Cavill in 1841.[2]
At the time of the 1851 census Mary worked as a domestic servant for the Hodgson family at White Cock Hall in Naburn, Yorkshire.[3]
In 1858 Mary married Harry Jewitt in Eastrington.[4][5] The family lived in Faxfleet, Yorkshire, where Harry was a farm foreman.[6][7][8] In 1901 Harry (or Henry) and Mary lived on the High Street in in Blacktoft, Yorkshire. He worked as an agricultural labourer.[9]
Henry died in 1909 at the age of 77.[10] In 1911 Mary lived in Driffield, Yorkshire, with her son, Alfred.[11]
She died in 1913 at the age of 77[12] in Howden Union workhouse and was buried in Blacktoft.[13]
