Research Notes
Conflicting accounts of who Sampson's father was. Stirnet, citing Burke's Commoners, Vol IV, p. 119, states Richard Hopkins.[9]. History of Parliaments states a Nicholas Hopkins of Coventry, draper, with a Probate Record as proof. [1] However a search of the Probate office database for 1550-1580 shows only a William Hopkins, Draper of Coventry, possibly the father of Richard Hopkins as listed by Stirnet.
