Biography

Joseph Howard, son of James and Mahala (Stone) (Randall) Howard, was born on 15 Dec. 1823 at Foster, Providence, Rhode Island.^[1]

He married Polly Ann Hopkins, daughter of Farnum Hopkins, on 7 Feb. 1847.

He married Eliza Ann Wilcox.

He was a farmer when he and Eliza appeared on the census of 23 Sep. 1850 at Glocester, Providence County, Rhode Island, his mother was living with them.^[2] He was a farmer when he and Eliza appeared on the census of 6 June 1860 at Foster, Providence, Rhode Island.^[3] He was a farmer when he and Eliza appeared on the census of 1 June 1865 at Foster, Providence County, Rhode Island.^[4] He was a laborer when he and Eliza appeared on the census of 4 July 1870 at Scituate, Providence, Rhode Island.^[5] He was the manager of the Asylum for the Poor and Indigent when he and Eliza appeared on the census of 21 June 1880 at Foster, Providence, Rhode Island.^[6]

Joseph died on 27 June 1897 in Coventry, Kent County, Rhode Island^[1] and was buried at Spears Cemetery, Foster, Providence County, Rhode Island. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.^[7]
