Biography

Mary Howard, the daughter of Daniel Howard, Esq. and Damaris (Williams) Howard, was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth Colony on 2 August 1727[1] or 24 August 1727.[2][3] She was baptized on 7 December 1727, at the First Church in Bridgewater (later West Bridgewater).[1]

Mary married Simeon Cary in Bridgewater on 27 June 1754.[4][5]

Mary and Simeon had the following children, all born in Bridgewater:

  1. Molly/Molley, b. 7 July 1755,[6][5] m. 15 June 1775 Simeon Keith in Bridgewater[7][5]
  2. Mehitabel, b. 4 August 1757,[8][5] b. 1st 28 November 1782 1782 Bela Howard in Bridgewater,[7][5] m. 2d. 1793 Samuel Dyke[5]
  3. Haward/Howard, b. 31 August 1760,[9][5] m. 1st 11 December 1785 Huldah Packard in Bridgewater,[10][11] m. int. 2d May 8, 1819 widow Hannah Brown in Bridgewater,[10][11] d. 18 June 1830 in Bridgewater[12]
  4. unnamed daughter, b. 31 January 1762[13]
  5. Martha/Patty, b. 1 November 1765,[8][5] m. int. 18 December 1788 Benjamin Keith in Bridgewater[7][5]
  6. Damaris, b. 13 November 1767,[14]2 October 1775 in Bridgewater[12]
  7. Rhoda, b. 9 February 1772,[6][5] m. 4 December 1794 Richard Wild in Bridgewater[7][5]

Mary's husband, Col. Simeon Cary died 30 January 1802, at the age of 82 (in his 83rd year), in Bridgewater.[15][5]

Mary died on 1 May 1815, at the age of 88, in Bridgewater.[12] She was buried in the North End or Ashland Cemetery in what-is-now Brockton.[12]
