Biography

From the Ovens and Murray Advertiser (Beechworth, Vic.) 6 January 1873:

BIRTH.
HUGHES. — On Sunday, 5th January, the wife of H. Hughes, Bank of New South Wales, Beechworth, of a daughter.[1]

Ethel was registered to vote in 1908 in Toorak, Fawkner, Victoria, Australia. At the same address were her sisters Ella and Mabel, and her mother Mary. Ethel's occupation was home duties.[2]

Ethel married Richard Howse Milburn in 1923 in New Zealand.[3]

MARRIAGES
HUGHES.—At Parnell, Auckland, on April 2, by the Rev. R. Strong, Richard Howse, second son of Mrs. Phoebe Milburn, of Parnell, to Ethel, fourth daughter of the late Henry and Mary Hughes, of Melbourne, Australia.[4]

Ethel Milburn died on 27 August 1954[5] and was cremated on 28 August 1954 in Auckland.[6]
