James Ingram was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was best known for his duets with singer Patti Austin, Baby, Come to Me (1982), and singer Linda Ronstadt, Somewhere Out There (1986). He was a 14-time nominated and two-time Grammy Award winner and a two-time Oscar nominee.[1]

James Edward Ingram was born in 1952 in Akron, Ohio. He was the son of Henry Ingram.

He played keyboards for singer Ray Charles before striking out on his own as a singer and recording his demo-turned-solo hit Just Once.

After he moved to Los Angeles, he signed and frequently worked alongside Quincy Jones. Their collaborations include the hits One Hundred Ways (1981), singer, and P.Y.T. (1983), writers for the Michael Jackson hit.

He died of brain cancer on 29 Jan 2019. His obituary was published online by TMZ.com.
