Research Notes

There are three female Jacka descendants who married men with the surname of Thomas who are often confused with each other, they are

  1. Edward Thomas (1815-) who married Elizabeth (Jacka) Thomas (1817-1848) on 21 May 1840 in Sithney, Cornwall, England, both dying before the 1851 Census
  2. John Thomas (abt.1833-) who married Catharine (Jacka) Thomas (bef.1834-) on 21 Nov 1853 in St Ives, Cornwall, England and migrated to Australia after the birth of their first child in 1854

It is thought that this the couple migrated to Australia soon after their eldest child was born.
