James Toliver Jackson was born on October 11, 1840 in Lead Hill, Boone, Arkansas, United States. His parents were Thomas Jackson and Sarah Maize, with whom he lived in 1850 in Bowen Township, Madison, Arkansas.[1] In the household were Thomas Jackson (50); Sarah Jackson (43); David Jackson (16); Nancy Jackson (14); Thomas Jackson (12); James Jackson (10); and Sarah Jackson (8). By 1860 [2] James was 21 and living with the family of James Upton as a farm laborer.
In 1880 [4] James was a 38 year old farmer living in Hartford, Sebastian, Arkansas. In the household were James T. Jackson (38); Harriett (36); Robert (14); Martha (12); Nancy (10); Ida (8); Thomas (6); Ira (6); Albert (2).
In 1900 [5] the family lived in Elixir Township, Boone, Arkansas. In the household were James (60); Harriet (59); Ida B. (29); Albert M. (22); Dora M. (19); Floyd E. (12) and a granddaughter, Maree (Marie) Jackson (1), who seems to be the daughter of Ida (who had born one child and had one child living).
Elixir was still their home in 1910. [6] In the household were James (69); Harriet (68); Ida B. (35) and her daughter, Marie (10); Albert M; (31); Floyd E. (21)
He died on February 25, 1918 in Debuque, Arkansas, and is buried at Jackson Cemetery inLead Hill.
Sarah J. Jackson Herriman (1862-1881) married Miles Milton Herriman in 1880. Died at childbirth in 1881 (child died as well)
↑ The date and place is according to family researchers and can be found in Family Search in the book "Ellingsworth and related families" page 75. According to the 1900 census, the couple had been married 39 years and Harriet had born 11 children, but only 9 were still living.
