Biography

Thore Jacobsen Stennes was born on 9 May 1822 in Hjørundfjord, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, the son of Jakob Jetmundsen and Anna Olsdatter.[1] His confirmation was on 8 Oct 1837 at the age of 15.[2]

Thore purchased property at Fremmerlid in Volda on 10 Dec 1849 from Johannes Jakobsen.[3][4] He paid 300 spesidaler.

On 9 Jul 1851 in Hjørundfjord, he married his wife Christiane Knudsdatter Norangshol when he was 29 years old.[5] In the Hjørundfjord parish register, the couple reportedly migrated from Hjørundfjord to Volda parish on 20 Oct 1851.[6]

In the 1865 census, Thore was 44 years old and lived at Fremmerlid in Volda with his wife and 4 of their children.[7] His occupation was "Gaardbruger og Selveier" (farmer and owner) and his place of birth was noted as "Hjøringfjords Præstegjeld".

In the 1875 census, Thore and his wife lived at Fremmerlid in Volda with three of their children: Jakob, Karoline, and Sivrine.[8]

He passed away on 28 Dec 1890 of pneumonia when he was 68 years old.[9]
