Biography

Wilhelmina Augusta Frederika Jahn was born 23 May 1880 in Brannan, Price County, Wisconsin, United States.[1] Her parents are Herman Jahn and Caroline Theresa Naffin.

On the June 3, 1880 census of Brannan, Price County, Wisconsin, United States, she is listed as unnamed "Baby" 11 days old, living with her parents, two brothers, and a sister.[1]

On 29 Jan 1896, Wilhelmina "Minnie" married George Peter Hibbard in Wausau, Marathon County, Wisconsin, USA.[2] Their children are;

  1. Florence Wilhelmina Hibbard.
  2. George Hibbard.
  3. Floyd R. Hibbard.
  4. Lester Arlie Hibbard.

On the 30 Jun 1900 census of Knowlton, Marathon County, Wisconsin, she is living with her saloon keeper husband, and their children Florence and George.[3]

In 1909 her sons Claud and George died, and were buried together in Sandpoint, Bonner County, Idaho. Near this time, Wilhelmina and George were divorced.

On 4 May 1910, Wilhelmina is a dressmaker living with her three remaining children (Florence, Floyd, and Lester) in Sandpoint, Bonner County, Idaho, United States.[4]

On 30 May 1912, Wilhelmina married Jonathan Gilbert King in Spokane, Washington, United States.[5] Their only child is

On the 13 Jan 1920 census of Hartline, Grant County, Washington, she is living with her son Lester and her husband John and their daughter Ina[6]

On the 12 Apr 1930 census she is living with her husband in Buckley, Pierce County, Washington.[7]

From at least 20 Mar 1939 through 14 Mar 1940 the family was still living in Buckley, Washington.[8]

On the 12 Apr 1940 census of Buckley,Washington, Wilhelmina was shown still living with her husband on a farm[9]

After she was widowed in 1955, she lived with her daughter's family in San Leandro, California. She died 8 Jan 1957 in Alameda County, California.[10] She is buried with her husband Jonathan in Lone Tree Cemetery, Hayward, Alameda County, California[11]

DNA

Paternal relationship is confirmed by a GEDmatch test match between Sharon (Murdoch) Primbsch GEDmatch T559449 and her third cousin, the son of Florence Lillian (Nicholas) Schirg. Their MRCAs are their 2nd great grandparents Wilhelm Jahn and Caroline Martwick. Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 3.8, based on sharing 78.1 cM across 7 segments.

Notes

Wilhelmina's California death index says her mother's maiden name was Noffine. Her daughter, Ina May, remembers it as Kniffen. It may be Naffine.

Wilhelmina's marriage certificate to George Hibbard states that her monther's maiden name was Therrsa or Therisa or Theresa Lephine, and that Wilhelmina was born in Price County, Wisconsin.

Crawford County, Wisconsin has no record of Wilhelmia's birth.
