Descendant of Asa Bonnell James and Elizabeth Caroline Richardson of Warren/Halifax/Cherokee, NC.


When Mary Ann James was born in 1842, her father, Asa, was 36, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 31. She married James Francis Marion Hartness in 1861 (marriage year guesstimate based on age of oldest child (8) on 1870 census); they had at least 8 children. She died in 1905 in Oklahoma at the age of 63, and was buried in Hulbert, Oklahoma.
