Biography

Alphonse Frederick Jeanfreau was born in 1828. He was the son of Augustin Jeanfreau and Marie Girault. He passed away in 1909.
Alphonse Frederick JEANFREAU (C11C2) was born in 1828. He was the son of Augustin JEANFREAU and Marie Seraphine GIROD(C11C)<15,82,115>. He was a riverboat captain. The 1908 New Orleans City Directory listed Capt. Jeanfreau's residence at 3029 North Rampart. He married Seraphine (Ceverine) RUIZ on 23 May 1854 at St. Thomas Church (M.V. I , p. 117)<67>, daughter of Juan RUIZ and Francoise "Fanny" VALET (VALLETTE) (V6E). In 1880, they were living in Ward 10, House 259/310<23>. In 1900, they were living in Ward 3, House 231/234<30>. There were six children, four of whom died in an 1874 riverboat accident<119>. Alphonse was the Captain of the Vessel EMPIRE, which sank at New Orleans: Fanny JEANFREAU (1856 - November 1874); John JEANFREAU (1862 - November 1874); (C11C2A) Mary JEANFREAU (1864); Ida JEANFREAU (1865 - November 1874); Walter JEANFREAU (1872 - November 1874); (C11C2B) Rita JEANFREAU; and (C11C2C) Marguerite JEANFREAU (January 1889).
