Biography

John Henry Johnson/Johnston, baptised 1855, Presbyterian Braidwood-Bungendore circuit, to John & Mary^[1]. He would have gone as a 10-year old with his widowed mother and siblings to Emmaville, NSW after she married James Lovick in 1865.

John H Johnson listed in Glen Innes Electoral Roll as Carrier 1897-98; also in 1894-5; in 1893-4, freehold (occupations not recorded).

He married Annie Morton (nee Hume) in Inverell, NSW, in 1895^[2]. They had two children in Inverell (Clifford Henry 1897-1976, and Ivy L. 1900-04).

After Annie died in 1933, John married Harriet Byng (nee Hero) in 1936 in North Sydney ^[3].

John died in North Sydney in September, 1949 as 'John Henry Johnston'^[4]. He was buried by the Salvation Army^[5].
