I was born Crystal Kaye Tyler, the surname belonged to mothers husband at the time who was not my biological father. My mothers name is Suzanne NMN Johnson. She married Larry Filmore Johnson (his last name is coincidental that it matches her maiden name). Larry adopted me in the State of Indiana and I became Crystal Kaye Tyler. I have my original birth certificate, and files associated with my adoption. During COVID I accidentally found my biological father and two sisters. This was confirmed initially via an Ancestry test with a half-sibling, then a Gedmatch X Match test solidifying my biological father as Jimmie Neal Roberts. Through the DNA research of my paternal line, I discovered he is genetically a Speer and he is the grandson of Guy Rolland Speer in Missouri. That is not a path my biological father wishes to acknowledge, nor one I am interested in chasing at this time but the fact has assisted me greatly in understand my paternal matches on Ancestry.
I am actively working through my maternal grandfathers Johnson line. My grandfather is Richard Lee Johnson who is still living in NC. His father was Charles Otto Johnson and mother Grace Ella Lady. Charles father is only known as Harry D. Johnson born about April of 1878 per census records. Harry married and divorced Anna May McIntosh of Bartholomew County Indiana. They also had a daughter who died in infancy named Ruth/Ruthie. I have acquired the divorce and marriage records for Harry D. Johnson. Records beyond that elude me after decades of searching. Harry listed his mother and father on his marriage records as George Johnson and Carry Ayres. I have not been able to confirm their existence in any records and if anyone has any info on Harry, Carry or George I would be grateful.
I manage the Gedmatches for my grandfather noted above, Richard Lee Johnson, my mother and myself. I also manage their accounts on 23 and Me, FTDNA where my Grandfather did a Y-111 test confirming he is a johnson who is also connected to Andersons, James Delaney Okie Jr., Ebenezer Johnson and Van Nuys/Vannice.
I am eager to provide any assistance I can and am grateful for any assistance I can provide. I am focusing on sorting our my grandfathers paternal line using Gedmatch as best I can to help confirm or identify "Harry D. Johnson". I have acquired military records on William M. C. Johnson wish is repeatedly showing on Ancestry as his father and I believe the military records suggest Harry is not a son of William M. C. Johnson.
