Michael, unfortunately, reply from other researcher: Your enquiry after 'Luke Duffy' confused me for a moment, probably because the name rang no immediate 'bells'. It turns out that Luke is a research snippet, a mini-tree that I had constructed while 'trawling' for additional branches of my wife's Duffy family from Ballinasloe, Galway. Early on it became obvious that there was no connection between those families and I terminated that research.
Michael, I can see the baptism of Luke in 1821 with his father Luke. The pages are very difficult to read and I doubt his mother is called Mrs Halfpenny, although that is what the transcription has it as. There is a John Duffy who dies in Naas in 1865 born around 1816 but nothing else I can see. There is a Luke Duffy buried in Killybegs Old, Prosperous (see http://www.from-ireland.net/full-gravestone-transcriptions/killybegs-prosperous-kildare/) - that could be the father (there is a Mary Ann Duffy with Cantwell as the mother baptised in 1821 that could be part of this family). It would certainly help if you could build your tree up back to these people, then you'd have a better chance of finding people who are linked in with your family. Good luck!
I see that you just volunteered. That's great! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors?
I see you have some surnames for tags. Have you checked out the One Name Studies project? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started. Let me know if you need any help!
You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering. Make sure to add more TAGS to follow as you grow the family tree.
