Biography

Marie was born about 1697. Marie Kasneral married Antoine Diestelzweig in Alsace, France and accompanied him to Louisiana around 1724. After Antoine's death Marie married Francois Bourdon.
The ship of transport of the family of Antoine DISTELZWEIG is unknown. The first mention of the family in Louisiana was found on the 1724 census of the old village on the German Coast, wherein the DISTELZWEIG family was recorded, as follows:
No. 48: Antoine DISTELZUE, 29, native of Setz in Alsace, Roman Catholic, laborer; his wife; a child of a year and a half; 3 arpents or 32 verges of terrain; has harvested about 10 barrels of rice and corn; good worker.
Prior to the census of the German Coast which was taken on 1 January 1726, Antoine DISTELZWEIG relocated his family to New Orleans. On 24 August 1726, Marie Jacobe MINEKESCHUIVI(?), daughter of Antoine D'EIESCHOVOIS and Anne Marie, died in New Orleans at the age of 3 months (655). Shortly thereafter, Antoine DISTELZWEIG died, as his widow, Marie KASNERAL, remarried on 5 October 1726, at New Orleans to Francois BOURDON. [1]
Marie may have died about 09/13/1727. There is an entry for the burial of Marie CACHELET on that date[2]. Although CACHELET is only periherally related to KASNERAL, she was described as "native of Fort Louis on the Rhine, Archdiocese of Strasbourg, sp. BOURDON."

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Marie by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Marie:

I believe the death of Marie KASNERAL is recorded as Marie CACHELET in New Orleans Records Volume 1, https://nolacatholic.org/publications, CACHELET p. 38. She is referred to as "native of Fort Louis on the Rhine, Archdiocese of Strasbourg, sp. BOURDON". This is not conclusive, but I think it is true.
