Carl Johan Kejser (1817 - 1865)

Biography

Carl Johan Kejser was born out of wedlock on 25 May 1817 in Skultuna Bruk, Skultuna parish, Västmanlands län, Sweden. He was the son of Stina Lisa Keijser (1794 - 1828). No father is mentioned in the birth record.^[1][2] He and his mother lived with her parents Jan Pålsson Kejser and Maria Ersdotter and siblings in Skultuna Bruk.^[3] His mother had served 1815-1817 at the parish vicarage (Skultuna prästgård), and she was working there when she got pregnant with Carl Johan.^[4] It looks like in Hubbo 1821 (sv. i Hubbo 1821) for both him and his mother in the household record moving out column, but it has been crossed out and they are both noted as returned (sv. återkommen) without notes of which year.

He moved with his mother to Hubbo vicarage Dec 1, 1821. They stayed two years, and then moved home to Skultuna again on December 12, 1823.^[5]

He had a ten year younger half brother: Anders Gustaf Kejser (1827 - 1889).

His mother passed when he was 11 years old, in 1828. His younger half brother was just a year and a half and was raised by their uncle Christian Keijser. They both stayed in their grandfathers household^[6] and when he passed away, in their uncle Kristian's.^[7]

His uncle was beredaredräng and then beredaremästare. Carl Johan first worked as beredaredräng, and then krongjutardräng.^[8] He moved when he married Carolina Wilhelmina Holmgren on December 28, 1851. She was a year younger than him, and already had daughter Johanna Lovisa b. 1841. They had children Carl Gustaf b. 1852^[9], Dorothea Wilhelmina b. 1854 and Augusta Desideria b. 1857.

Carl Johan passed away on January 15, 1865 in Skultuna Bruk. He left his wife Wilhelmina and four children behind.^[10] His wife's daughter Johanna Lovisa was 24 years old, Carl Gusttaf was 13, Dorothea Wilhelmina 11 and Augusta Desideria 9 years old when he died.
