Biography

Jonathan Kemper, son of Tilman Kemper and Dinah Hitt, was born January 13, 1788 in Fayette County, Kentucky. On September 6, 1808 in Fayette County, Kentucky^[1] he married Frances "Fannie" Chowning. Jonathan died April 28, 1872 in Owen County, Kentucky. After Fannie died, he married Rebecca (Spangler) Wright on March 24, 1833 in Owen County, Kentucky. Jonathan died April 28, 1872 in Owen County, Kentucky^[2]. His burial details are unknown^[3]

Know all men by these presents that I Johnathan Kemper of the county of Owen and State of Kentucky being in feeble health but sound disposing memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and wishing to dispose of my worldly effects while I am capable of so doing do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following (to wit): First that as soon as convenient after my decease all my personal effects be sold and all my just debts be paid, my burial expenses included. 2ndly that I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Rebecca Kemper one third of my estate both personal and real after my just debts are paid to have and to hold for her own special benefit and support during her natural life. 3rdly my will and desire is that the remainder of my estate both personal and real be equally divided between my bodily heirs to wit: Nathan Kemper (Deceased), Robert Kemper, Lucy Dorman, Joshua B Kemper, Walker C Kemper, Alfred Kemper, Asa Kemper, Elizabeth Spangler, Jonathan Kemper, David Kemper (Deceased). Lastly I appoint James C Hopkins my administrator to attend to and carry out the supplications contained in this instrument. Given under my hand and seal the day and date above written.
