Biography

James was born in 1845.

When he was enumerated in 1850 in Grayson County, Kentucky, he was with his mother Mary and siblings. His father was not enumerated with the family because he was enumerated in the family of James's grandfather, Solomon Kessinger, in Hart County, Kentucky.[1]

In 1860 James was enumerated in the household with both parents, and his siblings. They were living in Deep Water Township, Henry, Missouri.[2]

James married Miss Mary C. Armentrout 3 Dec 1868 in Montgomery County, Illinois.[3]

James and Mary C. Kessinger and their children in 1880 were living in Rountree Township, Montgomery, Illinois. Mary C. Kessinger was age 30, born in Virginia. Son John M. Kessinger was age 10, born in Illinois. Son James S. was age 9, born in Missouri. Daughter Mary Ann was age 7 born in Illinois. Son Jacob was age 5, born in Illinois. Son Charles was age 3, born in Illinois. Daughter Laura was an infant, born in Illinois.[4]

J P Kessinger was age 55 in 1900. His wife Mary C. Kessinger was age 50, born in Virginia. Son Charlie was age 23, born in Illinois. Son Grover was age 16, born in Illinois. Son Joseph was age 13, born in Illinois.[5]

James P was age 64 in 1910, living in Faulkner County, Arkansas. He had been married 43 years (first marriage for both) Wife Catherine was age 60, born in Tennessee. She was the mother of 9, 7 then living. Children in the household were sons Grover and Joe, and grandchildren Aster Kessinger (male) age 16, grandson Ernest age 14 and granddaughter Mabel, age 11. Their neighbors were James's son Charley, his wife Carry and daughter Alma.[6]

He passed away in 1926.
