Biography

The records of the Reformed Dutch Church of Bethlehem, New York, list a baptism on 31 March 1808 of a child named Christiana Maria or twins named Christiana and Maria, born 20 March 1808 to Frederick Kimmey and Jane Asselstine.[1] FamilySearch transcribed the record as the birth of twins Christianna Kimmey and Maria Kimmey, daughters of Frederick Kimmey and Jane Esselstyne.[2]

Maria Kimmey was married to William I. Winne.

Richard, son of William and Maria Winne, died at the age of 2 months and 12 days on 6 January 1828.[3] Frederick, son of William and Maria Winne, died at the age of 18 months and 5 days on 7 January 1832. [3]Both of these young brothers are buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethlehem, New York.[3]

Jane Winne, daughter of William I. Winne and Maria Kimmey, was born about 1835. She died in Manhattan, New York City, at age 73, on 23 May 1908.[4]

Maria's husband William I. Winne died at the age of 44 on 30 December 1847. A grave marker for him is documented in Elmwood Cemetery in Bethlehem.[3] He also is memorialized together with Maria on a memorial stone in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, New York. [5]

She is assumed to be the woman recorded as Maria Kimmey, age 83, in the 1892 New York State Census for Bethlehem, New York. Hers was the first name in a group of Kimmey entries that also included her nephew John B. Kimmey, 48, his wife, Jennie A. Kimmey, 46, and their children Myndert V. Kimmey, 19, Nellie M. Kimmey, 11, and Clarence Kimmey, 8.[6]

The death of Maria Winne, recorded as the daughter of Frederick and Jane Kimmey, was recorded in Manhattan, New York City, on 26 July 1896.[7] Maria Kimmey and her husband William I Winne are memorialized together on a stone in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, New York.[8]
