Biography
Mary was born in 1822 in Tennessee to Rev. John King and Rebecca Ann Upshaw. She married John Randolph Stegall at age 18 and had two sons before she passed away in 1844 at 21 years old. After her death, her husband sent their sons to live with her parents. They both fought in the same company in the Civil War, with the youngest dying in an army hospital.
