Biography
Jonathan Kirk, wife Margaret, and daughters Lucinda, Melinda, and Julia Ann died of a fever in the late summer of 1838. An uncle, Hiram Kirk, took the two surviving boys [John Wesley and William Henderson Kirk] into his own home. A short time after this, ...Hiram Kirk settled in Missouri....His little brother, William Henderson Kirk, for whom Dad was named, died when nearly eight years of age while in the care of his uncle Hiram Kirk.
