"Jeremy Peck & Johanna Kitchell was maryed the 12th Nov 1656"[3][4]
Jeremiah was a school teacher and minister and the family lived in a number of places Guilfrod, New Haven Colony 1656-1660; New Haven, New Haven Colony 1660; Saybrook, Connecticut, 1661; Newark, New Jersey, 1667; Elizabeth, New Jersey, 1674, Greenwich, Connecticut ,1678 and finally Waterbury, Connecticut in 1689.[1]
Johanna's mother, Margaret Peck, wrote a will 2 December 1679. She named only her "son Ketchell" and daughter Peck". She mentioned unpaid legacies left her grandchildren by the will of her husband Mr. Robert Kitchell. Inventory was taken on 16 May 1682[5] . There were differences of opinion on the distribution of the estate between Samuel Kitchell and Jeremiah Peck, which they agreed to leave in the hands of arbitrators recorded on 14 March 1682/83.[6] On 15 March 1682/83 it was decided that the grandchildren who should receive legacies were those living when Robert Kitchell died. Distributions were made to Samuel and Jeremiah and whatever was left over after the payment of all debts and legacies would go to Joanna Peck.[6]
Estate: Johannah peck made a deed disposing of her estate dated and acknowledged 7 October 1706. She made some specific gifts to her daughter Anna and to Anna's daughter. The rest she gave to sons Jeremiah and Joshua.[7]
