The family included Jacob (Klinger), 31, a farmer, with $300 in personal estate; his wife Mariah, 31; their children, Mary A., 7, in school; John T., 5; Eliza, 2; and Sarah C. (Cassandra), six months, born in November; also living with them was Mary Holden, 25 (probably a cousin or other relative of Mariah (Holden) Klinger.[2]
In 1880, the Klinger family lived in Washington, Van Wert, Ohio. All members of the household were born in Ohio. The household included Jacob Klinger, 41, a farmer; his wife Jane, 42; their children, John, 15, a laborer, and in school; Eliza, 12, in school; Cassandra, 10, in school; Luella, 7, in school; Ervin, 4; and William, 2.[3]
Cassie married Jesse E. Spray about 1895.
In 1900, the Spray family lived in Latty Township, Grover Hill village, Paulding County, Ohio. The family included Jesse E. Spray, 29, born in Dec. 1871, a tool dresser, who owned their house with a mortgage; his wife of five years, Cassie, 30, born in Jan. 1870; their daughter, Beatrice L., 2, born in July 1898; and Cassie’s brother, William R. Klinger, 22, a day laborer, born in Ohio in May 1878.[4]
In 1910, they lived in Van Wert, Van Wert County, Ohio. The household included Jesse E. Spray, 38, a house carpenter, who owned their house without a mortgage; his wife of 14 years, Cassie, 40, born in Ohio, who had had one child; and their daughter, Lillian, 11, born in Ohio, in school. All could read and write.[5]
In 1920, the Spray family lived on Woodland Avenue in Pleasant Township, Van Wert, Ohio. The family included Jesse Spray, 48, born in Iowa (parents b. Ohio), who owned their house without a mortgage, a building contractor; his wife Cassie, 50, b. Ohio (father b. PA; mother b. Ohio); and their daughter, Lillian, 21, b. Ohio.[6]
Cassie Klinger Spray, 1870-1922, died, aged 51-52. She is buried with her husband Jesse Edward Spray (1871-1943), and other family at Woodland Union Cemetery, Van Wert, Ohio.[7]
