Biography

Harriett Lee Knowles is the daughter of William Matthew Knowles (1818-1898) and Sarah Jane (White) Knowles (1826-1870). Lauisa appears in the 1880 Census with her father, his new wife (Susan had passed away before the census) and many siblings^[1].

Her first marriage lasted only a year due to the untimely death of her husband. Hattie and James did not have any children. Hattie then married James N McCann on 26 Nov 1891 in Drew county, Arkansas, United States ^[4]. This was the second marriage for both of them. James had two children in his first marriage. Hattie and James had five children. Six children are together for the 1900 census ^[5]. The youngest child (Paul) appears on the 1910 census after James passed away ^[6].
