Biography

Margrietjen (aka Margaret) was baptized in Kingston on 13 Mar 1715.[1]. She is the daughter of Andries LeFevre and Cornelia Blanchan. Kingston baptism notice Mar. 13 1715, #2295 in Hoes, lists parents as Anderies Le-Feber and Cornelia Blans-Jan. Witnesses were Pieter Kanteyn and Elisabeth Blansjan.

In 1739, she married Conrad Vernooy, son of Cornelis and Sarah (tenBroeck) Vernooy. They had six children:[2]

  1. Sarah (b-1742)
  2. Andrew (b-1744) married Maria DePuy
  3. Simeon (b-1746) died before 1767
  4. Jonathan (b-1745) married Margarita LeFevre
  5. Cornelia (b-1753) married Cornelius Bevier
  6. Conrad (b-1756)

LeFever-258 and LeFevre-306 appear to represent the same person because: According to Wright, Donald Lefevre: ; LeFevre Family Association., there was one daughter who married Conrad Vernooy named Margaret (bp 3-13-1715). No other daughters of that generation of Lefevres married a Vernooy. I believe a more up-to-date version of this source is only available in hardcopy here: http://www.lefevrefamily.org/genealogy.html.

The Ralph LeFevre book History of New Paltz, New York and its old families identifies Mary who married Conrad Vernoy and Maritje who married Nathaniel LeFevre as sisters (i.e., different women). There are no dates given for their lives. https://archive.org/details/historyofnewpalt00lefe/page/416
