Per the 1940 Census, Alfred drove a coal truck. The census shows he, his wife and daughter living with Mabel Hill; he was her nephew. His daughter Judith was listed as a boy in error on that census. The family moved to Indiana in the 40, settling in Huntington County, where he remained until he passed. Alfred was an artist. He drew comics for a local newspaper in Huntington County, Indiana.
