Samuel Henry LEE, son of Samuel LEE and Harriet DRURY, was born on 28 September 1883 in Holey Flat, Manning River, Colony of New South Wales, died on 19 October 1940 in Taree (R/D), New South Wales, Australia at age 57, and was buried in Dawson River Methodist Cemetery, Cundletown, Taree, New South Wales, Australia.

Samuel married Minnie Elizabeth BRANCH, daughter of Charles John BRANCH and Elizabeth JOYCE, on 14 September 1904 in Rawdon Island, New South Wales, Australia.

Minnie was born in 1882 in Port Macquarie (R.D.), Colony of New South Wales, died on 3 September 1935 in Taree (R/D), New South Wales, Australia at age 53, and was buried on 4 September 1935 in Dawson River Methodist Cemetery, Cundletown, Taree, New South Wales, Australia.

    MR. SAMUEL HENRY LEE.
    The death occurred with tragic suddenness of Mr. Samuel Henry Lee, of Chatham, on Saturday night last. He lived with his son, Mr. Preston C. Lee, and on Saturday night left home to walk to Taree to attend the Salvation Army concert. Later on in the night he was found by two young men by the roadside near the Plume depot. It was evident that be was dead and they informed the police. For the last couple of years deceased had suffered from heart trouble, and it is thought he had a seizure and passed away. He was 57 years of age and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lee. He was born at Holey Flat (Moorland), but when quite young he went to the Hastings River with his parents, who settled at Haytown, where his father worked in the sawmill. At the age of 14 years the subject of this notice also went to work In the sawmill, Later he moved to Newtown, near Port Macquarie and remained there until some 23 years ago. He had been residing on the Manning for the last 21 years. While at Haytown he was married about 36 years ago to Miss Minnie Elizabeth Branch (daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Branch). On returning to the Manning, the late Mr. Lee was farming on Oxley island, for seven years. This was followed by residence at Cundle tor four years, seven years at Hannam Vale, 12 months on Taree Estate and the last two years at Taree and Chatham. Since the death of his wife, five years ago last month, he had been living with his son, Mr. Preston Lee. He was a very quiet living man, deeply religious and widely respected and esteemed. As a young man lie was a very keen and clever cricketer and tennis player games which he loved when in the prime of life. At Hannam Vale he took considerable interest in the flower show, and he was also a lay preacher while In the Lower Manning circuit. The following family survive:- -Mrs. Harold Sheather, Taree Estate; Mrs. Charles Bone, Hannam Vale, Mrs. R. Bignell, Hannam Vale; Mrs. E. Hawley, Taree: Mr. Preston C. Lee, Taree; Mr. Raymond Lionel Lee, Taree; and Mr. Reginald Keith Lee. Hannam Vale. Deceased also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mr. William Lee, Hannam Vale; Mr. Charles Lee, Kendall; Mr. Bert Lee, Rawdon Island; Mr, George Lee, Wauchope; Mrs. M. C. Ruprecht, Taree; Mrs. George A. Ruprecht, Victoria Street, Taree; Mrs. T, Westley, Port Macquarie; Mrs. Spindle, South Coast, and another married sister In Victoria whose name we were unable to ascertain. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon. The Rev, E. W. Hyde conducted a service In the Taree Methodist Church and afterwards at the graveside in the Dawson cemetery. Mr. W. T. Howard was the undertaker.
